Volume, the number one criterion
A board’s volume, expressed in litres, determines its buoyancy. To start, choose a board whose volume is well above your weight: it floats well when stationary, making it easier to get going. As you progress, a smaller board becomes more responsive and lighter in flight. The volume and dimensions of each model are on the product page.
Inflatable or hard board?
An inflatable board is easier to transport and more forgiving when you fall onto it, an advantage while learning. A hard board offers more precision and responsiveness.
Foil compatibility
Check the foil mounting system (box or tracks) and its compatibility with your equipment. Our HANA Premium inflatable wingfoil board, available in 105, 130 and 150 L, has a double US track mount compatible with the vast majority of foils on the market.
Getting started
Take a few lessons at a school and choose an open spot, free of obstacles, with steady wind that is preferably not offshore. A helmet and buoyancy aid are recommended. Complete your kit with our wing accessories and a wetsuit.
