Paddling a kayak
Hold the paddle with both hands, slightly wider than shoulder width, knuckles in line with the edge of the blades. Plant the whole blade in the water near your feet, then pull it back to your hip by rotating your torso rather than pulling with your arms. With blades at 0°, there is no need to twist the paddle between strokes: the simplest technique for beginners.
Care
Rinse the paddle with fresh water after each outing, especially in salt water, and take it apart to dry before storing it.
